When it comes to the Blood Queen Lana’thel encounter in Icecrown, one of the challenging aspects is to set up vampire bites on players. Some days, the first player that gets bitten by the Queen isn’t always the same one in subsequent attempts.

Well worry no more.

There’s an addon called Blood Queen which manages all that stuff for you. For raid leaders, it becomes a big asset because the process doesn’t have to be micro-managed.

Features

  • Auto-assigned bite targets
  • Automatic raid icons set
  • Takes into account deaths, disconnects, mis-bites and mind control’s

WoW Gold Guide for the upcoming patch! (3.3.3)

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Gold Guides

by pantryboy @ mmowned

Let’s start, shall we?

PvP
Overview

The amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill has been increased by 100% for characters of all levels.
Given that all avenues in the game which award players with Honor do so with a calculated conversion from a specific
amount of Honorable Kills, this change means that all Honor players can obtain through various means will be increased
by 100%. To offset against this in two key areas, experience gains in Battlegrounds have been reduced by 50% and
Honor awarded for completing each Wintergrasp weekly quest has been reduced by 50%. When pairing the Honor
rewarded from Honorable Kills being increased by 100% with the 50% Honor reduction from Wintergrasp weekly quests,
and 50% experience-gain reduction from completing objectives in Battlegrounds, players will notice no change in the net
amount of Honor or experience awarded in either case.

There’s not much really to say here, it’s all pretty self-explanatory. But this is not the interesting bit, this is just an overview. You recall in 3.3 the introduction of the Random Dungeon Finder, no? Well, Blizzard hadsuch a good return that..

Ensidia’s Rogue Guide 3.3

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Raiding Guides, WoW Rogue Guides

Rogue Guide (Last updated 2/13/2010)

By Uhohuhoh, Undead Rogue @ Ensidia

US – Bleeding Hollow

Being a good rogue is considered one of the easiest things to do as a World of Warcraft player – compared to being good at other classes. Rogues are known to be a two button (Mutilate, Envenom) class with some wicked survivability tricks. All of this might be true if your simply running dungeons and trying to hit an 1800 arena rating. However, being a truly good rogue – one who truly excels and PvE and/or PvP – requires a lot more than what most people think. Being a good rogue requires dedication, patience, skill, and understanding. The goal of this guide is to help explain and debunk some rogue myths, as well as help you understand what it takes to be a good rogue, and how to get there.

To better organize this, I will be dividing it into two major sections, Combat and Mutilate, and each of these sections will have their own respective sub-sections. If someone would like to write a PvP section for this, I would be happy to put it up.

Raiding as a rogue, you really only have one goal and purpose for the raid: To do as much damage as possible. Rogues have no buffs and a weak debuff (compared to other classes). While this is not always the case based on the fight and how Blizzard changes WoW at any given time, rogues, on a static fight, should be the top damage doers in the raid. Please note, I am making a clear difference here between DPS (damage per second), and damage (overall damage done). Rogues generally will not be on top of the DPS meters even if they are on top of the damage meters, because casters (such as arcane mages) generally have much higher DPS. However, since they are limited by mana, they cannot dps during the entire fight, and need to take breaks to regenerate their mana. This is part of what allows rogues to be highest on damage and yet not highest on DPS.

Lovely Charms are somewhat of a rare commodity–going for huge chunks of gold on the auction house (as bracelets), and being divvied up sparingly by various miserly mobs. For the achievement alone I needed 120 of these random drops, and was looking for the quickest, least painful way to get them.

I first tried Ulduar on Tuesday, but apparently Blizz moved exceptionally fast and hotfixed that tactic (along with any other mobs you kill with a vehicle). I put out some feelers for a spot with lots of meleeing, aoe-able creatures. A guildie offered up a spot suggestion: by the Avatar of Freya in Sholazar Basin.

Since the implementation of escalating badges in Heroic instances many players have found that running a huge number of heroics is a great way to get near end game raid quality gear.  This running of chain heroics grants huge quantities of badges that can be used to buy gear only one level removed from the current end game raid drops. For some players this is the best gear they will ever get since they don’t raid, for others it is a great way to gear up an alt so that they can get in on raids, and for others it is just for profit by selling off the gems they can purchase.

No matter your reason for running the instances there are several ways to make the most out of them. The most important thing when running chain heroics for badges is to make use of the random heroic tool.  Even if you have a preformed group you can still queue for a random heroic and therefore get two frost badges for the first heroic you run that day or two bonus triumph badges if it is the second or later heroic that you run that day.  This really adds up since most heroics grant you 3 or 4 triumph badges, so this gives you a little better than 50% extra badges over time.

Before you actually run any heroics though you should make sure you are geared for it.  Rather than provide gearscore recommendations since what is effective varies so much between classes here is a list of the basic stats you need based on class type.

When people whisper me in-game and I don’t answer there is usually a good reason for it. Please take no offense if it happens to you. I’m probably afk, or just busy with something else. I’ll try to answer questions on the forums (at least the ones that haven’t been answered already).

Some parts of this guide are taken from the previous guides, obviously the ones that apply for marksman as well in Icecrown Citadel. These are in italic, so you can just skip over it if you read the previous guide and got a general understanding of the appropriate section. This should make it easier if you are only interested in marksman specific information for the Icecrown Citadel dungeon. .

To start out:

Do you want this mount? Well, you’re in the right place! Just follow this simple guide, and it’ll be yours in no time.

Contents
1. Prerequisites
2. Guide
3. End Note

Part 1 – Prerequisites
You will need to meet three requirements to properly follow this guide:
1. Wrath of the Lich King Expansion
2. A level 80 character, preferably a plate wearer or something that can prevent too much damage from being taken
3. Time and perseverance

Wrath of the Lich King is required to have an 80 character. Time and perseverance may seem “frightening” at this point, but it only took me around 4 days of 1-3 hour farming to get exalted.

Part 2 – The Guide

This section of the guide will be the most expansive, simply because it is the guide. There will be a lot of information here, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Just keep reminding yourself that once it’s done, it’s done

Love is in the Air this 2010 with a revamped holiday event!
Buffs can be dispelled, but sockets are forever. That was the line from the Valentine’s Day World of Warcraft commercial that aired during the days of WoW: The Burning Crusade. Now the holiday has come back around but this time with a vengeance. No longer do you pick up chocolates from the guards or find out who’s spiked the perfume. A mysterious group of Goblins called the Crown Company has taken over the holiday and the Steemwheedle Cartel is none too pleased.

Love is in the Air runs from February 7th, 2010 to February 20th, 2010.

What’s New

A lot has changed and the holiday has been revamped to remove all of the frustrating bits out of it. No longer do you have to hope you get the right item from a guard or sit AFK for hours at a time while a debuff wears off.

  • Guards no longer give out gifts and “Heartbroken” no longer exists.
  • Innkeepers have no role at all in the new Love is in the Air holiday.
  • You can now do four daily quests for your capital cities in addition to other daily quests once you’ve unlocked them.
  • Love Tokens are now used to purchase all of the goods that used to come from Pledges. You can get these from daily quests or by farming any mob for XP to make bracelets.
  • Many of the achievements have changed, but they’re rewarded retroactively (so you won’t lose any achievements).

The Vault of Archavon (VOA) is a 10 or 25 player raid found in Wintergrasp Keep.  This location makes it different from other raids, due to the fact that the keep is in a PVP zone and changes hands every few hours as the battle for Wintergrasp is fought. When your faction holds the keep you can join a raid group and enter VOA, however if your faction doesn’t hold the keep you need to wait until they do.

The other thing that makes VOA different from other raids is the loot that is available there.  Each boss can drop PvP or PvE gear of varying quality, for any class or spec in the game.  This makes loot quite random, as a piece of gear may drop for a spec or class that is not present, or all PVP gear could drop, or all PVE gear could drop.  The randomness to the loot frustrates many players.  It also means that groups should attempt to bring as many different classes and specs as possible so that most loot can be used.

The raid currently contains three bosses, but has expanded from one on initial release.  Currently in ascending order of difficulty the bosses are: Archavon the Stone Watcher, Emalon the Storm Watcher, and Koralon the Flame Watcher.   While we will describe the fights and strategies in this order, realize that most groups will start with the hardest boss first.  That way if they fail to down him, they are not saved to a failed group and can instead look for a better group of raiders.  If you are raiding with your guild, then this is not an issue and you can do the bosses in any order.

Archavon the Stone Watcher

Archavon is a pretty simple fight that is a DPS race due to his 5 minute enrage timer.  While he has a few abilities that need to be dealt with, nothing is overly complicated.  He does, however, require two tanks due to his abilities.
