Warriors. The most “basic” class that, at least in Cataclysm, will be available to all races (the selection was unavailable to blood elves for some unknown reason). Fighters are a fantasy staple. Big, burly guy with a sword or an axe. Maybe a shield. Everyone else is optional, really. Some generic magic user, sure. Throw in a dude with a bow and arrow for good measure. But a fantasy setting without a warrior? That’s just wrong.

In PvP, warriors seem like a staple, too. They’re central (or at least a warrior-like ability called Mortal Strike is) to a good number of arena team compositions. You could say Mortal Strike defined the PvP environment such that Blizzard had to dispense Mortal Strike-like abilities to other classes just so they’d be considered viable alternatives to a warrior. The good news is that Mortal Strike is actually a talent, so not every warrior will be walking around smiting every foe with it. The bad news is that even the fury tree has something like it. Not only that, when you’re facing a warrior, you have quite a number of things to worry about aside from Mortal Strike or similar effects. After the break, let’s take a look at warriors and the most common abilities you should expect on the battlefield.

Warrior knows best

Warriors, especially of the protection variety, need to know what the heck is going on on the battlefield and when pressed up real close against a boss type. I want to recommend Event Alert for those warriors out there who do not want to deal with the occasionally steep learning curve of Power Auras. Event Alert comes ready to go out of the box.

Power Auras is the superior addon — I know it is. The reason I want to highlight Event Alert is because of its relative ease of use. For the novice or the player who doesn’t want to spend the time configuring Power Auras, Event Alert works well. (Power Auras tutorials and use cases are coming soon, however, for all of you who are looking for some good Power Auras techniques.) In addition, Event Alert comes preloaded with settings for almost every class, which makes the addon a no-nonsense tool for dealing with alts as well. Up top is an example of a death knight’s Event Alert, but the warrior’s experience is similar.

via Tanking Tips

The World of Weapons

Entering Icecrown, we’ve got a number of interesting weapons to choose from and if you’ve kept up with the content, I think you’ll be hard pressed to not have something usable. The larger question though isn’t what is usable, but instead what’s desirable. What didn’t drop for me that should have. Is anything worth still running pre-Icecrown instances for? You bet. Let’s begin.

Heroics

Red Sword of Courage
Upon launch this was the must have weapon that you ran Utgarde Pinnacle for over and over again for and if you’ve just hit 80, it’s still a great first item to pursue.

Axe of the Sen’jin Protector / Teldrassil Protector
Acquired via Champion’s Seals from running Heroic ToC5, this pair of axes offers more of a “sure thing” if you’re unlucky acquiring the superior sword above. It should be noted though for those of you that rollled Orcs that this is the better choice due to it activating your Expertise racial.

Lucky Old Sun
Regular Forge of Soul’s recent addition to the Heroic tanking weapon selection. Nice and fast with excellent itemization. It will serve you well for the short time you’ll use it before acquiring any of the upcoming heroic items.

Peacekeeper Blade
It’s kind of a cardinal rule that if something has an extra socket on the rest of the field, it’s going to be awesome. This blade doesn’t disappoint making it easily the best starter tanking weapon you can acquire out of the easier heroics. [Heroic ToC5]

What we want is the paladin to have Commanding Shout + Kings, and the warrior having Battle shout + Kings BEFORE the fight starts!

I dont know if this is a “common knowledge” but ive never seen it used, or heard of anyone using it before.

Dont do this until its 10-20seconds left until the fight starts!

1. Paladin buffs himself with might and warrior with kings.

2. Warrior use commanding shout, and Battle shout right after.

As the might has more AP than Battle, it wont override the buff and the paladin will keep Might + Commanding.

3. Paladin swaps Might for Kings.

The warrior will have battle + kings and paladin will have commanding + kings.

Hope this helps! You can try this out being in a normal group aswell, does not require arena to work!

[Warrior] Arena guide for beginners

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Arena Guide, WoW Warrior Guides

Warrior arena guide:

New to Arena?
If you’re new to Arena matches I suggest you start of with some 2v2 to build up some experience and skills. If you think you are able to handle the good stuff you should try 3v3 and end with some 5v5. This guide should be extremely usefull to players who haven’t (ever) played a arena match before.

Talents:
Your talents are very important. The most used arena warrior spec is Arms. Here’s a quite good talent build to get you started with:
Talent Calculator – World of Warcraft

Addons:

Gladius: adds enemy unit frames to arenas for easier targeting and focusing. It is highly configurable and you can disable most features of this addon.
Gladius – Addons – Curse

Macros:
How to make macros:

- Type /macro;
- Click on New at the bottom;

- Name your macro;
- Select a icon;
- Select Okay;
- Now open up the macro you just made and fill in the macro ‘code’.

!Important!

Hold [Ctrl] + [H] and search for: Slayer of the Lifeless – Replace it with your one-handed weapon.
Hold [Ctrl] + [H] and search for: Wall of Terror – Replace it with your shield.

Warrior tanking simplification (helpful macros)

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Macros, WoW Warrior Guides

I want to start this off by saying that I have been using this method since release of wrath. I’m sure I got the basic idea from a guide somewhere but have heavily modified to my liking. That being said, lets do this…

I’m not going to bother wasting time on telling you how to gear. If your having problems there then you have dozens of articles here already telling you. I’m simply going to tell how to simplify it. I’m currently in a casual guild and tank ToC 10 and ToC 25 regulars with this, so it is a viable choice for raiding as well as heroics or leveling.

Glyphs:
For this method it is not required, but I highly suggest Glyph of Cleaving, threat on 3 targets as opposed to 2 is great. Glyph of Revenge is not needed in my opinion. I’ve never had threat problems.

Talents:
Talent Calculator – World of Warcraft
is the spec I’ve had for months. I’ve been considering dropping Concussion Shot and Vigilance for 2 points in Armored to the Teeth or Improved Spell Reflection but never got around to testing it. 3% dmg reduction from vigilance is awesome for my OT, but not really needed with the simplicity of Wrath raiding. With my gear this puts me at roughly… (all unbuffed, no self buffs either)

33.3k Health
49% dodge/parry
25% block, blocking 1147 (unmodified by glyph or crit block)
61% armor
7% hit
25 expertise
2288 ap

Macros:

Shield Block – No hassle revenge with trinket activation and Bloodrage.
#showtooltip Shield Slam
/castrandom Revenge, Shield Slam
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Bloodrage
Devastate – Threat macro.

/castsequence reset=combat/target Cleave, Devastate

Thunder Clap – Shield Block in rotation without wasting toolbar space.
#showtooltip Thunder Clap
/cast Shield Block
/cast Thunder Clap

Charge – Charge, if cooldown then Intercept. If enemy has friendly targeted Intervene.

#showtooltip Charge
/castsequence reset=15 Charge, Intercept
/cast [help] Intervene; [target=targettarget, help] Intervene;

Last Stand – Let your healers know whats up.
#showtooltip Last Stand
/cast Last Stand
/yell Last Stand Activated! I’ll lose 12.6k health in 20sec. Be ready healers!

WoW Guide: How 2 warrior

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Raiding Guides, WoW Warrior Guides

Well first off, Ive always found that playing a warrior relys on reflex.
The faster you are as a warrior the more your going to benefit those around you. This is vital because warriors dont compete very well at the moment. This is why even in BGs i bring my A game, For that adrenaline rush you get when you kill 8 players without dying, Thats in my opinion what this game is truly about. But anyways to the point what i’m saying is: Melee classes were meant to be played. Meaning. Please do yourself a favor and get a set of keybindings. You cant make it as a warrior in the wonderful world of pvpcraft and click, only dks can do that.

——K e y b i n d i n g s——

Well my playstyle is a bit weird, i use these keys.

a – strafe left
g – strafe right
v – backpedal (you never know rofl..i like to have total control of my character. this is essential)
4 – move forward.

Those are your basic movement keys. All of my abilities..ALL OF MY ABILITIES ARE BINDED..Even stances..Actually a neat trick you can do with stances, is utilize your mouse.

these are my mouse binds:

Mouse wheel up – Berserker stance
Mouse wheel down – battle stance
Middle mouse click – Defensive stance.

Tip: now theres a trick here, You swap stances, but..that leaves the matter of your weapons being equipped. For this i utilize these macros to make me more versitile:

[warrior] Dual Wield Unique 2Handers

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Tricks, WoW Warrior Guides

here’s what you need to do:

Equip the UNIQUE 2 hand weapon you want to DW in your offhand. Equip a trash 2H in your main hand.

Fill your bags and your bank completely with trash.

Spec out of Titan’s Grip. (Now easier with dual spec.)

Logout.

Log back in. Your offhand two hander will be missing. Not in your bank or your bags because there was no room for it.

Equip the other copy of the 2 hand weapon in your MH.

Respec INTO Titan’s Grip. Make sure your bags are full. Relog.

When you return, you should be dual wielding again, with the missing weapon back in place.

This trick may also be good for smuggling a copy of Devastation outside Tempest Keep by shuffling the weapon into limbo, leaving, relogging with it restored. I can’t promise this one. It would be a lot of work for a 15 minute duration item.

This guide can be shared and copied AS IS, without modifications and with this section included. If you feel like, you can give credits, and they are hoped for. If you feel like donating, choose a suitable charity near you.

Purpose
This guide has been written for new tanks who want to seriously delve into the wonderful world of tanking instances and raids in World of Warcraft. In this entire guide, the emphasis is for NEW tanks, so most if not all of the methods described below involve spending as less gold as possible, with as less randomness as possible. I will try and include alternative methods for players who have gold to spend, but buying your way to victory is NOT the purpose of this guide.

Also, because of the differences between feral druids and the other tanks, this guide is only for plate wearers. Sorry, my furry friends!
However, the general information and advice are valid for druids, too.

Your new level 80 character and tanking
So you’ve just levelled your tank (Warrior, Paladin, Druid, and Death Knight) and eagerly want to go in the first instance you see with your friends and raze it with all your green and blue equipment.

I found out a few simple tactics to help you win if you decide to get a warrior teammate or a hunter teammate (This only works if you are the opposite A.K.A you have to be a hunter and he/she has to be a warrior or vice versa…)
TIPS FOR WARRIOR OR HUNTER
1:The hunter is mainly used as the bait! Coming from a /played time of 233 days, I’ve noticed that in arena in Pre WoTLK most of the time hunters would never get attacked, they would only get CC’d. Now that people have found out that the hunters are whats really screwing them over, they are getting killed first most likely.

2:The warrior is pretty much assisting the hunter take down the healer or clothie. (If there is no clothie or healer then you attack the one he attacks.)If a healer is getting piled by a Surv/AimShot hunter and an MS warrior there is no way the healer will survive to long!

3:Make sure that the hunter uses frost trap IMMEDIATELY!! Remember a trinket can’t help when its an AOE snare or AOE immobilization effect! (HoF or Hand of Freedom is the only thing that can free this Including Bubble ^_^)

4:The warrior must use Rend + Hamstring as soon as you attack the target the hunter attacks or the hunter tells you to attack! Slowing down your enemy can confuse and make his reaction time a bit slower. (This can also cause your opponent to Bubble, Trinket or waste CD’s that he shouldn’t waste.) You want to rend because this will keep the opponent in combat for an extra few seconds and will cause him/her to be unable to use Bandages until the rend is finished proccing.
