I’d like to take a look this week at some of the heroic 5-man loot. If there’s one thing I personally noticed right away when researching said loot, it’s that there’s a marked lack of hit rating. In recognition of that, I have often included some choices for each slot that are technically slightly worse than others except for a good amount of hit rating. In the end, to get to that magic 9% hit rating cap for raid bosses (Although some claim the new cap is somewhere around 8.1%), you’ll need about 296 hit rating. To do that, you may end up needing to take both some of the loot from here and from last week’s normal dungeon guide, and top it off with some choiceenchantments and gems, but it’s certainly doable.

But now, without further ado, let’s see what heroics get you in Wrath of the Lich King.

Of course, any guide to emblem gear would have to mention that you can get your Tier 7 chest and glove tokens via emblems. Like most tier gear, these come in three flavors, enhancement, restoration and elemental. (We won’t forget the gloves, either.) Honestly, I was a trifle surprised to see them go this route, but considering how hard it could be to get your Tier chestplate in BC it’s certainly not a bad idea, especially if you have a lot of emblems from running heroics and feel like dropping 140 of them (80 for the BP, 60 for the gloves) in one go. Heck, it also means that if you’re having bad luck in Naxx 10 either due to drop rate, losing the roll or bid, or what have you that you’ll have a way to get yourself geared up without as much RNG.

After a few all-nighters in a row and a lot of showing up to work very tired, I finally reached level 80 this weekend. After a few victory laps in Dalaran to celebrate my victory over experience points and blue bubbles and Hemet Nesingwary (not for long, I’m sure); the looming realization of level-cap responsibilities started to enter my mind. Reputations, heroics, arena points, and honor – I had a lot of work to do.

So, I took my own advice and decided to start some heroics, but not before spec’ing into my PvP mutilate build. I thought about trying out the truly insane DPS of Honor Amongst Thieves builds, but decided to postpone that until I’ve got some more gear to give it a real trial. Read on to see what I discovered on the way to my first Emblem of Heroism.

Wrath 101: Farming for Eternals

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Gold Guides

by ALEX ZIEBART

o you’re level 80. What now?Raiding? PvP? Hah, no, not really. It’s time to start farming mats for… everything! When you’re off farming, Eternals (theWrath equivalent of Primals) are probably on the top of your list. We’ve had a lot of people asking us what the best places for Eternal farming are, so we’re here with the answer.

Below is a quick guide to the best spots for every type of Elemental Eternal in Wrath of the Lich King, and it’s assumed that you have Cold Weather Flying when you’re out farming. Most of the best farming spots aren’t exactly tuned for players lower than level 77, and you can’t get to the really awesome spots at all. So hold off on your farming until you’re 80, or near 80. It will make your life easier.

A quick word about the quartermasters; you won’t have early access to the Ebon Blade or Sons of Hodir quartermasters for the purpose of browsing the merchandise. The Sons will be hostile to you until after you’ve done a long (but very entertaining) quest chain to get them to neutral, and the Ebon Blade quartermaster will only be “phased” into existence after you complete a quest chain that gives the Knights control of the Shadow Vault. The Argent Crusade quartermaster is available if you can get to their base camp in Icecrown, but don’t bother rushing; the earliest you can use any of the gear they offer is level 78.

Wrath Dailies: Cheese for Glowergold

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Professions, WoW Quest Guide

by ADAM HOLISKY

I don’t get the cheese in game. It’s everywhere. I get that there are people operating a cheese shop in Stormwind as part of their cover, but everything else? There’s something about Dalaran and its cheeses.

My particularly favorite cheese at the moment is Gouda Cheesewhich originated from the Netherlands. It’s better than the cheese they sell and produce in Dalaran. And it’s also, you know, real.

But enough about this “reality” thing. Let’s focus on the cooking daily quest where you have to make your own cheese platter.

Quest Giver: Awilo Lon’gomba (Horde) or Katherine Lee (Alliance)
Reputation: Kirin Tor
Reward: 150 rep, 9.9g at level 80, a Dalaran Cooking Award, a Small Spice Bag
Minimum Level: 65
Required Chain: Cooking at 375 or above.

We’re getting to the point in Wrath where more than just the hardcorestof the hardcore are raiding. Not everyone is there (and not everyone is interested), but the time will come. On the way there, you’re going to have to visit an old friend: The hit cap.

In Wrath of the Lich King, the hit cap has moved from the original 16% to 17% hit. Why? Prior to this expansion, there was a baseline 1% chance to miss with spells that you could not remove. No matter how much hit rating you had, you were stuck with a 1% chance to miss. In Wrath, that’s gone. It can be overcome.

Wrath 101: Flight paths in Grizzly Hills

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Free Guides

by ELIAH HECHT

You asked for it, so I’m delivering the next installment of my series on the scenic flight points of Northrend. Today, we’ll be looking at Grizzly Hills, the next zone after Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, and Dragonblight level-wise. There aren’t a ton of flight points there - just two each for Horde and Alliance.

Horde:

We’ll have 3 sections today. The Good are stats that are excellent choices for DPS, Tanks, or both. The So-So are stats which still do us some good, but are pretty situational or conditional in their usefulness. The Outcasts are those stats that you should avoid — Well, I’d say avoid like the plague, but we’re Death Knights. We like the plague around here. So I’ll just say you should avoid them.

The Good:

Strength and Attack Power:
Strength is the number one stat for most types of Death Knight DPS, and is hardly a slouch for tanking either. 1 strength converts to 2 attack power, and that attack power scales into spell power for the purpose of a Death Knight’s spells, which include diseases and non-weapon attacks such as Death Coil. In addition, 4 strength converts into 1 parry rating.

The Mage is the foremost master of magic in the Warcraftuniverse. Although all the other classes excluding the Warrior and the Rogue use magic of one sort or another with equally wonderful effects, the Mage is the class that’s named after the stuff.

But what is magic? What does it feel like to harness it? Does the mage have to do a strange ritual or utter incomprehensible words in an ancient language in order to cast her spells? Other fantasy settings often have one or more of these elements together, but as far as I can tell,Warcraft lacks them.
