The dungeon loot list

You would think that a dungeon gear wish list wouldn’t have changed much since March 2009, considering that only four new instances were released after that list was published. But those four instances cover nearly every slot with ilevel 219 and 232 gear, whereas the previous 12 dungeons drop ilevel 200 gear.

The TL;DR version of gearing up your enhancement shaman outside of raids is: grind the heck out of Trial of the Champion, Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and every tank’s favorite, Halls of Reflection. And yes tanks, that’s sarcasm; I know firsthand from my bear druid how nasty that place can be.

I wanted to title this post “A loot list for enhancement shaman who do not have regular or significant access to ICC gear, and may or may not consider themselves casual” but I didn’t think that would fit in the address bar. And, after filling out just a few items on the list, I realized just how easy it is to gear yourself up running only the four new instances. It’s almost a joke to create a loot list, but I will anyway in case you have a particular slot with a green quest reward still plaguing your character screen.

Enough preamble, on to the loot! I do include some normal versions of the instances, which technically makes this list eight dungeons instead of four, but you get the idea. Use this list to target areas for specific upgrades. Click the header link for an amazing Wowhead filter.

That list doesn’t include anything from the emblems that you’ll receive from running dungeons on a casual regular basis.

Get your priorities straight

Remember, your priorities on gearing are as follows:

1. cap expertise: 140 rating or 26 in your character sheet
2. cap hit: 341 for Alliance, 367 for Horde
3. go for mail gear with agility

Extra expertise is wasted. Extra hit is good. Stack AP until you get up to ICC-level gear. Then switch and go all haste stacking. If you’re not in mostly ilevel 251 gear, then just stack AP.

Your weapons should always be slow. Slow means speed 2.60 weapons in each hand. Use the Windfury imbue in your main hand, and Flametongue in your off hand. Though for PvP Frostbrand is ideal in the off hand.

Return the Harpoon Control Mechanism to him once the task is complete.

Description

We must strike while the vrykul forces are in disarray! Take the harpoon control mechanism to Nifflevar and locate the northernmost harpoon building on the bluff side of the village.

Once there, commandeer one of the vrykul harpoon guns that are stationed on the building’s deck. Use the harpoon gun to rain hell upon Wyrmskull Village! Destroy the longhouse, dockhouse, storage facility and any defenders that the vrykul may send at you!

Do this and Daggercap Bay will become a much safer port!

STEP 1: Disable any UI mods, a lot of them will glitch this quest.

STEP 2: Go to a harpoon at either 64, 54 or 64, 52. Doesn’t matter which one you pick.

STEP 3: Use the item in your bag [Harpoon Control Mechanism] and you should “mount” the harpoon changing your UI with 2 possible attacks.

STEP 4: Use the keyboard to turn the harpoon and you’ll see three houses down below right by the water. These are your three building targets.

STEP 5: Use Attack #1 and aim the green cursor at the RED ROOF of the house you want to destroy and fire. If you hit the house anywhere else it may not give you credit.

STEP 6: Everytime you destroy a house Dragonflayer Defenders will spawn. Kill them by targeting them and using Attack #2.

Sometimes a crowd of players may form waiting for you to finish up harpooning because only one person can use it at a time. You can get around this by inviting them to a group, you will all get quest credit.

Dismiss your construct by dismissing it from the pet window once you have completed the quest.

Description

Alright, <name>; the time has come for you to climb inside this thing and learn how to use its basic abilities. When you’re ready, get on the work bench and I’ll get you situated inside the construct.

Your first lesson is going to be using the construct’s transportation system. You’ll notice that the iron dwarves have set up special rune carvings around the dig site. Their constructs use those rune carvings to power up and fly from point to point. Try it with the rune carving I built here.

Simply right click on the empty work bench behind the quest giver, then activate the rocket jump ability

Dismiss your construct by dismissing it from the pet window once you have completed the quest.

Description

The most important part of your job while controlling the construct is the collection of data. I’ve placed an iron dwarf relic in the cart over yonder. It’s the floating, lightning infused crystal.

Get on the work bench and I’ll put you back in the construct. Once you’re back in the driver’s seat, use the construct’s data collection ability to pick up the test data.

Walk over to the wagon while and go near the blue crystal with the 2 spinning globes around it, then collect the data

While the Explorers’ League may discern bits and pieces of the past through their archaeological findings and the Vice Admiral might extract some knowledge of the present through brute force, the truth lies with the spirits.

With the proper reagents I am able to see into the spirit world. It is there that the past, present and future of Northrend resides.

He is in great danger!

I have devised a magical disguise that will make you appear as a worg while you are within the Rivenwood. The disguise is weak, relying upon the strange magics of that haunted wood. While it will only convince the worgs, it will allow you to get close to Ulfang.

Please, <class>, find and help him.

Ulfang can be found in a cave at 29.7, 5.7.

If Valgarde falls, our primary supply line into Northrend will cease to exist. From there it’ll only be a matter of time before we’re all servants of the Lich King. Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a wife and three kids back in Elwynn and I’ll be damned if I’ll go down without a fight.

The situation here is critical and we can use all the manpower you’re able to muster. Get to the front gate and help the guards defend the city against the invading monsters!

You can kill either the dogs or dwarven giants that are attacking the northern edge of the town by the burning buildings. You get no loot for killing them and they will spawn infinitely so when you’re done the only way to get away is to run away.

Here’s the keys to our flying machine. Grab three sacks of relics and haul them up to the crane platforms on the north and south sides of Steel Gate. I’ll mark them for you.

Try the sack coord 31 . 25

1. Identify a bag, and land near it.
2. Position yourself so that you are pointing toward the bag, approximately 15 yards away.
3. Press the grapple control.
4. If you are unable to grapple, move forward, the grapple will fire once you are the correct distance from the bag.(You may or may not need to press grapple again, I had more luck with not mashing the button)
5. Fly up to the drop point and deliver the goods.
6. Proceed to step 1.

I never want to see another barrel of salted fish as long as I live! Filling barrels day in and day out, and there are still more to be filled!

Just in case you didn’t *quite* get the quest, try jumping into the lake he is fishing in. You should see some “water plants”. They will sparkle the same way a chest or other quest objective does.

Interacting with the water plants will cause a Forsaken Spy, a Caldemere Snapper, or a Northern Barbfish to spawn. What you want to spawn is the northern barbfish. It seems there is a 33.33~% chance for either of the three to spawn. Luckily there is a 100% drop rate – if a northern barbfish spawns, after you kill it and loot it it you have 100% chance at getting a northern barbfish in your bag.
