As the great dragon crashed down, I turned and began padding toward the entrance to the shrine. The padding quickly became walking as I assumed my elven form, feeling the familiar weight of armor settle around my body. Brushing the sand out of my cloak, I turned to the figure who had silently watched us battle.

“Now that we’ve killed you,” I began, “You can help us?”

“Yes. The path to the Dragon Soul is open. It must be retrieved if we are to have any chance of stopping Deathwing and saving our world. I will now take you there.” He gestured, and a portal coalesced into existence.

I couldn’t help myself. “Um, I know you’re the Aspect of Time and everything, but wouldn’t it make a bit more sense to just go warn the other Aspects about Neltharion before he betrays them? This seems rather roundabout.”

He stared back at me, expressionlessly.

“Right. I’ll just … take the portal, and Shred something. Sounds good.”

Hour of Twilight is pretty much one big long escort quest involving Thrall. Dude’s trying to deliver the Dragon Soul to Wyrmrest Temple, and a whole bunch of bad guys are trying to stop him. A whole bunch of bad guys with loot. I think that’s the part I cared about the most. The loot. Saving the future was merely a side effect.

Getting the loot requires you to put up with a lot — one of the most annoying fights inCataclysm, in my opinion. I’m talking of course about the Asira Dawnbreaker fight. Thankfully, though, her shadow priest frustrating silences are avoidable. Sort of.

But hey, she’s the second boss in this thing. First things first.

Today, I am going to be clever. I am going to use the phrase “back to the future” in an appropriate context. I am so excited for this. It’s coming up soon, so you nerds don’t want to miss it. In fact, you should probably call your friends on the phone and tell them I’m about to do it, so they don’t miss it. Then you can read it together. Or better yet, Skype in with each other so you can see the sheer look of joy on their face when I reference a really cool movie in the next paragraph. OK, you ready?

End Time, the first of the new 5-man instances, is arguably the easiest. In order to get to not-Nozdormu, you’ll have to go through two of four echoes, which are alternate future versions of today’s faction leaders. There’s a bit of trash, but nothing that can’t be AoEed down. As such, we’ll jump right to talking about the echoes, which are more interesting.

Last time, we had a lot of fun creating all sorts of terrible paradoxes as we shadow priested through the End Time futurespace. So much fun, I figured we’d continue our time traveling journey this week. But instead of moving forward in time, we’re moving backwards — all the way back to the Well of Eternity. If you’re doing these new patch 4.3 5-man heroics in order, Well of Eternity is the second you’ll come across. There are three boss fights, but in my opinion, the first is the most enjoyable. The reason is a pretty selfish one: the Shadow Walk/Shadow Ambusher buffs that can turbocharge a shadow priest’s DPS into the stratosphere. Read the rest of this entry »

The first of the three new 5-man instances is called End Time. It’s got a great concept: You travel forward in time to a post-apocalyptic Dragonblight nightmarescape. In this (soon-to-be) false future, Deathwing was not stopped and the maddened Echos of faction leaders roam a destroyed world. With treasure. As a level 85 shadow priest, it’s your duty to travel to End Time, beat up the baddies, steal their loot, and ignore all the terrible time paradoxes your action undoubtably causes.

There are five different bosses in End Time. Your party will randomly face two of four different Echoes (Baine, Jaina, Sylvanas, Tyrande). After beating the first two bosses, your party will teleport to the Bronze Dragonshrine to face off against the dragon Murozond in what is arguably the most fun 5-man fight of the entire expansion.

With End Time and Well of Eternity down, the last dungeon we examine is the Hour of Twilight. This dungeon technically takes place in the present day, acting as a precursor to the Dragon Soul raid. Unfortunately, you do have to escort Thrall through the dungeon, but if you turn off the sound on the voice acting and squint, maybe you can pretend it is a cooler shaman like Nobundo or Mylra.

For now, though, what we’re most interested in is getting through this dungeon as a death knight, be that tank or DPS. It’s a short, sweet dungeon, but there are a couple of tricks and gimmicks you’ll want to know to make the fight as smooth as possible. As with the other two dungeons, the loot here will be mostly sidegrades to Firelands stuff, a great way to catch up an undergeared death knight for Dragon Soul. (For a more complete overview of the dungeon from all angles, be sure to check out guide to Hour of Twilight.)

Gear. It makes the world go round. And though we like to say that we mess around in heroics and raids for the thrill of victory, let’s face it — if we didn’t get those shiny new purples, we wouldn’t obsess over victory so much.

If such virtual treasure fuels you, today’s column is for you. Whether you prefer to run the new 5-man heroics, mess around in the Raid Finder, or even just shop around on the Auction House, there’s some terrific new gear out there.

Despite all attempts to get me to focus otherwise, I will actually be keeping up my promise and providing you with a cleanly laid-out gearing list for patch 4.3. To prevent you from wasting your days farming for an item that you might replace, valor point items will also be listed given that you can earn the currency through 5-man content. Let’s be on with the show!

Quick Mists abilities breakdown

To give a small aside to the important changes that were brought up by the revealing of the ability lists, here’s a quick rundown of anything that you might be interested in. Only demonology has Bane of Doom; in fact, each spec only has access to a single Bane. It seems Wild Imps will happen, and yes, it sounds adorable — I mean evil … it sounds evil. Illidan’s Whatever was changed to Mannoroth Fury — same effect in that it gives all your direct damage abilities splash damage, but now deals 10% splash passively and 100% on activate.

WoW Guide to Hour of Twilight

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Boss Guides, WoW Instance

by Allison Robert

Hour of Twilight is chronologically the last of the three new 5-man dungeons in patch 4.3. However, both it and End Time have been available for far longer than Well of Eternity, so most of us have wound up having a lot more experience with the former than the latter.

As with our other guides, I’ve continued to include the new Explain it in 5 seconds or less feature, for all those glue-sniffing players you’ll encounter through the Dungeon Finder. Have fun with them!

As with End Time, you’ll find yourself talking to Nozdormu at the start of the dungeon, and you’ll take a little time portal to the beginning of the instance. Talk to Thrall, and Hour of Twilight will begin. He’ll accompany you for the rest of the dungeon. Initial trash isn’t anything to worry about, and your first hurdle will be Arcurion.

WoW Guide to End Time

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Boss Guides, WoW Instance

When you first zone into the dungeon, you’ll see Nozdormu and another quest giver directly ahead of you and next to a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey thing you’ll use to move around the different shrines. In each End Time you get, you’ll get two different shrine bosses from a selection of four — azure (Jaina), ruby (Sylvanas), emerald (Tyrande), or obsidian (Baine) — and then the final boss, Murozond.
