You’ve all seen my arguments for having rogues top the DPS meters. We’re the only pure melee DPS class, meaning we have the most specific role. Yellow is a great color, and so having a nice patch of it at the top of Recount is awesome. You get the idea. The fact is that rogues are known for their DPS, so doing lots of it becomes pretty important in succeeding.

Even with this huge focus on DPS, we do have one other trick up our sleeve. Back in the days before balance, the developers had to find a way to ensure that every class was brought to a raid. Hybrids could bring powerful buffs, bosses would use debuffs that required certain healers, and there was always a boss per tier that you needed a warlock to Banish. Even the DPS-focused rogues had a special niche to keep them getting invited: Kick. A boss would be designed with an ultimate ability that needed to be interrupted, and there was nobody better at that job than a rogue.

All right, folks — time to gear your tanks! As with our previous series on gearing a restoration druid at level 85, we’ll be going slot by slot to show you the best available options and where you can get them. I’ve listed recommend enchants previously in Feral Druid Tanking 101, but I’ve listed them here as well for convenience.

I received some criticism over the restoration gear posts that they were a bit too thorough, and it was (I think) a correct assessment. I’d been aiming for an Emmerald-like opus, but it wound up being an unwieldy mess in blog format. Here, we’ll generally avoid gear below ilevel 333. Why? Because you don’t want it. I’m sure it’s very nice and it has a great personality, but trust me, I’ve been down that road. It is the way of pain. I’ve listed the normal versions of some heroic drops here as a courtesy to anyone who’s still leveling up, but items are otherwise ranked according to the desirability of their heroic versions.

This week, we’ll do the helm through ring slots. Weapons, trinkets, and relics require a bit more discussion, so we’ll tackle those next time.

My friend was doing trash earlier and figured out that if you kill up to the phase-twisters CC one, kill the rest. Run out and run back in the same group of phase-twisters will be there. So this is more chance at epics with less effort.

1. Clear up until that last 2 groups of phase-twisters
2. CC(sap/sheep) one pull and kill the rest
3. Walk out, walk in(dont reset same group will be there spawned)
4. Rinse and repeat

WoW Quest: Take Him to the Earthcaller

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Introduce Flint Oremantle to Earthcaller Yevaa at the Temple of Earth.

Description

He still looks a little loopy to me. His head must still be ringing.

Best get him inside the temple and see what the Earthcaller wants to do with him.

I think I’m going to stay out here a little while longer and “observe” these rock flayers.

WoW Quest: Stonefather’s Boon

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Grant the Stonefather’s Boon to 12 Earthen Defenders.

Description

With the Stonefather taken prisoner, our forces are demoralized. Normally any one of mine could take five times his number of stone troggs. But now….

I want you to head out into the field surrounding the town. Plant Stonefather Oremantle’s banner near my defenders. Grant them his boon and remind them of that for which they fight.

Speak to Terrath the Steady at the Pale Roost.

Description

Nearby to the north, you will find Terrath the Steady. He has taken upon the task of pulling the stone dragons back into the fold. We find ourselves repeating this trial every few hundred years… the stone dragons are fickle, and bend only to strength.

Terrath is balanced and reasonable, but his goals may not be easily accomplished. Go to him. Appeal to the more balanced side of the Stonemother.

WoW Quest: Something that Burns

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Obtain the Burning Heart.

Description

Alright, we need something that’s going to make the compound go, “Boom”!

I’m all out of gun powder, but I think I know what we can use instead… the heart of my fire elemental!

Here, take my fire totem east to the Blood Trail. Just flip the switch on it near any of the lava pools over there and Magmatooth should be summoned. Bring back his heart and we’ll be in business.

You might think that the Old Gods and the demons would get along. After all, both really just seem to want to kill everything on the planet. Apparently, you’d be thinking wrong. Strange, I know, but I guess there can be more than one reason to destroy a world, and these two butt heads over who should get to do it. Personally, I’m all for killing both — well, killing those who refuse to become my slaves, that is.

Due to that whole “must destroy the world” shtick, we find now find ourselves face to face with yet another dungeon full of monstrosities to wipe clear. With as many of these cults and beasties as there seem to be, you’d think the races of Azeroth would just stop caring by now. This time, the diabolical threat is Cho’gall, the leader of the Twilight’s Hammer, which has come a long way since its original incarnation as a clan of orcs. So far I know, it goes kind of like this: Old Gods want to destroy Azeroth, Deathwing works for the Old Gods, Cho’gall works for Deathwing; ergo, we must kill Cho’gall … or something like that. It seems a little hokey in my book, but anything with that many eyes around its body cannot be cool and probably needs to die, anyway.

So let’s get to killin’!

So you’ve read my previous column covering the basics of feral DPS in Cataclysm, and you’d like to give it a try at endgame. Awesome! Let’s get you equipped for the task at hand with the gear you’ll need to begin raiding.

Most of the items I’m listing are item level 346 and typically come from Cataclysm heroic 5-man instances. You’ll have to acquire a mostly full set of ilvl 333 gear to be eligible to enter heroics (via the dungeon finder); questing through Twilight Highlands should get you most of the way there, but I’ll include a representative ilevel 333/325 item for each slot to help fill out any holes.

Also, since our best stats (by far) are weapon DPS and agility, ilvl 352 honor PvP gear is a perfectly acceptable substitute until you get the heroic drop you’re looking for. Until the patch, four pieces of PvP gear are actually more powerful than equivalent PvE gear, due to the overly strong four-piece set bonus. After the patch, PvP gear will be weaker, but not by much.

Finally, our secondary stats will be very close in value to each other, so don’t worry too much about which ilvl 346 item you get. Generally, though, mastery > crit/haste > hit/expertise, for reforging purposes.
