Power Auras Classic

First up is a mod I failed to mention in the first article, but I shall correct that by highlighting it here. Power Auras Classic is a heavyweight contender for most commonly used addon. I received a lot of feedback about not including this in the original post, and with good reason.

For a restoration shaman, this addon can be quite useful. You can set it to track just about anything, from Water Shield to the proc of totems like the Totem of Surging Sea. It can be programmed to tell you when buffs are present or missing, or even when you have a debuff. It can track individual stacks and tell you how many charges you have left on your shields. You can set it to alert you many different ways, including different textures, colors, animations and many various sounds. The sheer versatility of the mod makes it a great pickup to track pretty much everything you can imagine.

You’re a tough mother, <name>. I think your talents are better suited elsewhere – like the root of the whole damn problem!

A thousand Scourge, at least four full sized floating death machines and who knows what else.

But you’re gonna find out and then you’re gonna handle it… That’s right, you’re gonna beat the hell out of the Scourge army that’s currently beating down our door.

Get to the top of Warsong Hold and report to Wind Master To’bor. He’ll be expecting you.

WoW Quest: What’s the Matter with the Transmatter?

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Collect 15 Fizzcrank Spare Parts and deliver them to Mordle Cogspinner at Fizzcrank Airstrip.

Description

There’re spare parts strewn all over to the east in the Scalding Pools, the Geyser Fields… heck, probably even up on the pumping station still, too. Bring back a whole bunch. Maybe then I’ll be able to get outgoing teleport on this thing working, not to mention getting the incoming transmatter ports aligned.

I’d hate to see another accident….

WoW Quest: What the Cold Wind Brings…

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Take Ith’rix’s Hardened Carapace to High Overlord Saurfang at Warsong Hold.

Description

You hold the carapace fragment of Ith’rix the Harvester and realize that this is only the beginning. Even now you sense that victory is fleeting. Surely the Lich King has a thousand more beasts like Ith’rix, waiting to be unleashed upon the Horde.

Take your trophy and present it to High Overlord Saurfang, inside Warsong Hold. He should be notified of your victory over a powerful Scourge agent.

When I applied for a new raid team a few months ago, I went to my class trainer and put together a pretty good build for my shadow priest. It worked great then for the content I was working on. After re-examining my build, I realize that times have changed, and so should my talent tree.

Psychic Horror was a great ability during Trial of the Grand Crusader progression. It’s useless in Icecrown. And it’s not the only talent that has outlived its usefulness. Shifting around a few points can have a very noticeable effect on your DPS, mana regen, and survivability.

The price to respec varies — it could cost you as much as 50 gold depending on how many times you’ve done it recently. Still, when you compare that to the amount you spend twice that on a single epic gem and even more on high-end enchants, respecing gives you one of the best returns on investment in the game.

WoW Death Knight Guide: Unholy tanking 101

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Death Knight, WoW Raiding Guides

?by Daniel Whitcomb

Unholy tanking is both a unique and endangered form of tanking in WoW. Unique, because of Bone Shield, which makes unholy uniquely suited to be an avoidance tank, and endangered, because it’s going to go away in Cataclysm. That said, there’s still reasons to be an unholy tank, whether it’s one last hurrah for your favorite playstyle, wanting to try the playstyle before it goes away or wanting to get used to Bone Shield before it moves over to blood to become a core tanking talent for all tank death knights. Whatever your reason, read on. This guide is meant to provide you with the basic talenting, glyphing and technique for starting out as an unholy tank.

Pros of unholy tanking

  • Bone Shield has the potential to be the best tank cooldown in game with high avoidance.
  • Anti-Magic Zone allows for multiple raid members to stand in the fire.
  • Unholy offers superior AoE threat.
  • Ebon Plaguebringer is the superior magic debuff, thanks to spreading via Pestilence.

Investigate the area surrounding the Fizzcrank Pumping Station. Then, return to Sage Earth and Sky at Taunka’le Village.

Description

The gnomes have run into some trouble in the pools to the west. It serves them right as they have been fouling up the land with their so-called inventions.

I want you to go out to their pumping station and observe what has befallen them. Return to me after.

WoW Quest: Weapons for Farshire

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

Return to Gerald Green in Farshire.

Description

Farshire is overrun and all that Gerald can think of is to get me my ore shipment? I swear that man has as much heart as any of our soldiers on the frontlines.

We cannot let the civilians lose their lands if they’re willing to fight for them. We might not have the troops to spare, but we can send them weapons.

These were earmarked for new recruits, but I’ll be able to cover those with the ore you’ve brought me. Send word to Gerald that weapons are on the way.

WoW Quest: Weakness to Lightning

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Quest Guide

While weakened by the Power of the Storm, destroy any 15 of the robotic units, except the mechagnomes, in the greater pools area surrounding the Fizzcrank Pumping Station.

Afterward, return to Sage Earth and Sky at Taunka’le Village.

Description

You now have the power of the storm within you. I will give you the means to focus that power and weaken the robots in the pools.

Take this lightning rod. Use it against the robotic creations of the mechagnomes you find within the greater pools area to the west. Do not worry about using it against the mechagnomes themselves; Greatmother Taiga has other plans for them.

Once the robots are weakened by the power of the storm, dismantle them utterly!

I’m going to come right out and say it: Don’t do this. The problem with making the best raiding and PvP ammo in the game only available from players is that it forces hunters to either find an engineer with the recipe who is willing to do all the crafting by mail, or buy it off the auction house.

What do I have against the auction house, you ask? Well, overall it’s an excellent tool and far superior to the much nastier alternative of being forced to actually use trade chat for, you know, trade. It’s not perfect, however. In fact, there’s one massive glaring inadequacy that can be found.
The “steal from a hunter” button

The AH has, built in to its base functionality, a button. It’s big, red and when pushed, takes a small amount of gold from a distracted hunter and puts it into your bags. It’s a rotten, nasty trick that I feel should be a bannable offense. Basically, the icon for a stack of, say, Iceblade Arrows looks close enough to the stack of a 1,000 iceblades that maybe every 100th hunter who searches for their ammo for raid that night will accidentally buy a single arrow being listed for sale by an unscrupulous jerk instead of a stack being listed by an honest engineer.
