Warriors Guide: Arms gearing for beginners

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Warrior Guides

by Matthew Rossi

This column will be focused on a general overview of gear specifically for an arms warrior that you can acquire via PvP (not Arena, but Wintergrasp and BG’s), reputation grinding, emblem vendors and running TotC 5/heroic 5. There’s actually a great deal of easily acquired gear out there to catch up your new arms warrior.
Things to Remember

While the Expertise goal for a DPS arms warrior in PvE is the same as it has been (26 expertise to push dodges off of the table, and no, you don’t want to be dodged to proc Overpower, trust me it’s going to be lit up plenty from talents like Taste for Blood) unlike a fury warrior you have talents that can help compensate for it. (When I last visited this subject, Fury had Weapon Mastery, it’s an Arms talent now.) If you are an arms warrior looking to raid, you only need 18 expertise if you have full Weapon Mastery, and Strength of Arms can provide 4 of that 18 expertise. This means that if you max both WM and SoA you only need roughly 115 expertise rating on gear to hit the dodge expertise goal.

As for hit, Arms doesn’t have access to talents like Precision, but neither does it particularly need them. Since Arms isn’t subject to the ridiculously large dual wield miss penalty, hit rating for an arms warrior can cap both special attacks and chance to miss with normal (or ‘white’ for the color of the damage numbers in Scrolling Combat Text/Damage logs) with the same rating of 263 hit rating/8% chance to hit. 263 hit rating will completely remove an arms warrior’s chance to miss entirely on both specials and white or normal attacks. Once you have that much, stop. Don’t get any more. Unlike a fury warrior, you’re done at 263.

For PvP of course you don’t really need to worry as much about hit and expertise. 5% chance to hit is pretty much all you need for Arms PvP unless you’re fighting players higher level or in high defense gear.

As for things like Crit, ArP, Attack Power and so forth, well, we could write another 600 words on each subject. Armor Pen has recently been adjusted downward again, but it’s still a solid stat for DPS warriors due to the fact that pretty much all of our damage is physical and thus mitigated by armor with the sole exception of bleeds. Rather than go into crazy detail (consider that pending for another column) I’ll say aim for 50% armor reduction, and then stack as much AP and Crit as you can get. (If you have Armor Penetration procs like Grim Toll, that 50% will often be much higher, but I’m not assuming you do because that’s a 25 man raid trinket.)

Now let’s start looking at some gear.

The Auction house: Fluctuation and you

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Auction House, WoW Gold Guides

Fluctuation is something that happens every week and is caused by supply and demand; there is a weekly trend in prices and it usually goes unnoticed by the vast majority of players.

However, there are people that exploit this and make insane amounts of gold, and you are going to be one of those people.
The way it works
On the weekend, everyone is off work and a lot more people farm their little socks off. As a result (more people playing), Supply goes up and demand goes up. But the supply goes up more than the demand and this pushes prices down as people desperately undercut to sell their products first.

This is a good thing, because on a Saturday evening you can buy almost anything for about 70% of the normal price. The time supply goes down is around Wednesday & Thursday because the people who farmed over the weekend and whose items did not sell have come back by now & they decide to sell it cheap to make some quick $. Wednesday & Thursday night is the time to sell because they will sell for the most, on average, at this time of the week.

How are you going to use this? You have probably heard of “buy low, sell high” since it is spread like a disease by people trying to sell gold guides that don’t work. Well, you find a nice market, I will use Greater Cosmic Essence as my example (because for me it’s one of the best items out there when it comes to reselling). Here I will outline how to use fluctuation to your advantage.

On Saturday, go to the auction house. There will be a LOT of Greater Cosmic Essence on the auction house. On my server, they sell on saturday for 9-11g each, with some people listing higher. On Wednesday & Thursday I can easily sell these for 15-16g.

You should check these prices on your realm before attempting this. Make sure you make at least 3g per essence when reselling on the Wednesday & Thursday. My strategy is to buy as many essences as I can from 9-11g early Saturday evening (prices on your server may very, the max price you should buy for should be at least 3g under what you can sell it for on the Wednesday/Thursday) then go back about 2 hours later on the Saturday, and buy a load more from 9-11g since people are flooding the auction house with new listings, and so that I never have to go over the 11g mark to buy as many auctions as I want.

By waiting for new auctions to pop up for the low prices again (undercutting happens like hell in those 2 short hours) I can buy a huge amount without going above my limit. I don’t buy anymore after that because even though there are many more auctions left to buy later on, buying everything is a good way to start inflation. It’s about control. On the Wednesday as soon as I get back from work (5:30ish) I’ll list a good amount of auctions. After around 40 minutes most of them have gone so I put more up, and then again afterwards. Then on Thursday I do the same again.

I sell more on the Thursday, and I do it in chunks so I don’t risk flooding the market, but still sell high amounts of auctions. If you have any left over on the Friday, feel free to try selling them or buy less on saturday and sell the leftovers and new purchases again the next Wednesday/Thursday. If I’m looking at (minus fees and buying price) 4g profit per essence, and sell anywhere from about 300ish on the 2 days in the chunks I talked about that is 1200g in total for maybe 10-15 minutes of work. And that isn’t constant working, either.

How to make your Argent Squire to do whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you are.

Hey folks. Found out this today when i did some arena with my mate (it didn’t go good at all for those who wanna know..). Anyways i found how to make your Argent Squire to do whatever you want, of the things you can use him for when he gets the Pony..

Preparement (Skip these steps if you got the Argent Squire Pony:
Get Exalted Champion of The Alliance (Champion with all cities + Exalted with them)
Get 150 Champions seals and buy the Argent Squire Pony.

Get use of your “slave”. Okay, now if you got exalted bla,bla with everything you can select one of three things that your Argent Squire can do for you.

1. Open your bank
2. Open your mailbox
3. Open a Vendor

Once you selected one you can’t choose another for the next coming four hours due your “slave” got kicked from hes work. But it’s a little trick of how to kick him up and get him back to work!

Simply /w a guildie, friend, random guy whatever and tell him to join Skirmish 2vs2. He can hide it if he wants to, however you join it. When you spawned in the arena. Call for your Argent Squire and now you should be able to select a new work that he can do. Select what you want him be able to do. Then leave the skirmish.

To make it clear.. this takes away the 4hours cd he normaly got and you can choose a new work for him whenever you want. This is also possible to make wherever you are, you can be somewhere in Silithus and /w a guy in Dalaran and he’ll join Skirmish.

Rince and repeat if you want bank, mailbox, vendor.

[Flying mount] Fly with no mount movement

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Tricks

I’ve noticed this heaps, and I’m sure it’s happened to other people, I’ve been tested it and I think I’ve replicated it sucessfully.

To do it, you need a little bit of lag, just above average MS works fine for me.

1. Go to mount up.
2. As soon as the bar flashes green, hit space.
3. If you do it right, this should happen.

NOTE: If you want to fly like this you HAVE to keep moving, as soon as you are stationary your mount will start flapping his wings, ending the glitch.

[Guide] Leading the Cavalry (50 Mounts)

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Achievements

This guide is geared towards level 80 players with a decent amount of gold, Lower level characters can not do all of these things.

Havent done anything on the site in a long time, searched over and over for this before I gave up, and I wouldnt mind getting Contrib rank, so I figured, hey, Ill contribute.

Anyway…

This is a guide on How to get > [Leading the Cavalry] < The 50 mounts achievement, and getting the [Reins of the Albino Drake].

Getting 50 mounts isnt really all that hard, Just expensive and time consuming.

First, You really need to be (This being the easiest way I have found) Exalted with all the 5 home cities. This is much easier at level 80 where, If you quested to level, You should be at least revered with everyone. The easiest way is to do all the quests in Mulgore, Durotar, Barrens, Silverpine/Tirisfal, and Eversong for horde, and Elwynn, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Darkshore/Westfall/Ashenvale and Both of the Draenei Starting Islands for Alliance.
This is not very hard if your 80, and Can be done with a few hours each day in a little over, if not under, a week. You also get the title ‘Ambassador’ And [Ambassador of the Horde/Alliance]. Once thats done, You can go and buy all the mounts…

Horde

Trolls = Raptors >> Sen’jin Village in Durotar
Orcs = Wolves >> Orgrimmar in the Valley of Honor
Undead = Undead Horses >> Brill in Tirisfal
Tauren = Kodos >> Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore
Blood Elfs = Hawkstriders >> Right Outside of Silvermoon City

Alliance

Humans = Horses >> Menethil Harbor an Eastvale Logging Camp >Elwynn
Dwarves = Rams >> Amberstill Ranch in Dun Morogh
Gnomes = Mechanostriders >> Outside Kharanos in Dun Morogh
Night Elves = Nightsabers >> Darnassus > Cenarion Enclave
Dreanei = Elekks >> RIGHT Outside of The Exodar

Cost

All Epic mounts at Exalted = 8g
All Non-Epic mounts at Exalted = 80s

That right there, gets you a total of 33 Mounts >> Sooo… >> 33/50

Just 17 more

[Horde] Glaive Thrower, spot!

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Battleground, WoW Tricks

I found a spot in Isle of Conquest where it is possible while playing horde and controlling the vehicle “Glaive Thrower”.

This spot allows you to stand out of sight far away and still be able to nuke down a door into the alliance base.
I did this in 3.2.2 so it will work.

[Priest] [PvP] Double spirit buff 3.2.2

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Priest Guides, WoW Tricks

As every good priest knew in season 6, you could buff Divine Spirit rank 6 and 5, and they would count as 2 buffs, without the spirit itself stacking. That way you would have that bit more dispel/purge protection on your important buffs, which might just be giving you the edge you need to pull off a win.

This was nerfed a while ago, but ive now found a new way!

Buff Prayer of Spirit rank 2! (not max rank), and then Divine Spirit rank 6 (max rank).
Same effect, and not that noticeable by others as its 2 different icons

Easy [Arathi Basin Assassin] Achievement

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Achievements, WoW Tricks

[Arathi Basin Assassin] requires you to kill 5 players at each base. As of the new “Isle of Conquest” patch, they increased the max view distance.
Put your view distance to max, and stand here:

Stand there in stealth, or otherwise just stay alive.

You will get [Arathi Basin Assassin] within a few minutes.

For a while i was trying to find a good spot to farm lots of borean leather and arctic fur and recenetly found a great place to farm with a huge incentive.

With the release of 3.2 we see the release of the raptor pets and while grinding in zuldrak 1 day i realized a few things. 1 the raptors could be skinned, 2 theres not alota people out here farming them, 3 the raptors are high enough level that they drop 1-2 pieces of leather and have a decent arctic fur drop rate, and 4 the respawn rate is just great.

By just going in a circle around gundrak 1 time is all it takes to see respawns. so along with this spot having a great leather/fur drop rate you also have a chance to make extra gold off the pet. You can also make nice gold off the gray stuff they drop, and because there is a vendor right near the FP there is no need to take extended periods of time to fly somewhere far to vendor stuff.

Good luck.

[AB] Ontop of stables [3.2.2a]

Posted by: free-wow-guide   in WoW Battleground, WoW PvP Guide

Like most of you guys know they removed the outhouse at stables.

But there is a way to get ontop of stables(with a mammoth mount for gnomes, haven’t tried with elekk or another race thou)

What you need to do is start of by getting in to AB(pretty obvious)

Then head down to AB and place yourself like I do in the screenshot(it’s because you use the fence to get where you want)

When facing like that try and jump as close as you can to the roof. And you’ll end up like me in the screenshot below. Then you just do the old Jump + forward.

And with a little practise and patience you’ll be able to afk or whatever again on the roof!

Happy honor farming/leeching
